‘SchwarmDirigent’ in the Cloud

Originally developed for networking and managing ‘ZuhauseKraftwerk’ home power plant systems, SchwarmDirigent is now a little Albert Einstein among energy management systems: it makes energy smart. Power is only generated when it’s needed. At this year’s E-world specialist energy trade fair in Essen, LichtBlick is now demonstrating the next stage in the development of ‘SchwarmDirigent’: It’s moving into the cloud. In this way, we’re making our technology available to many – and that is, after all, the idea behind the cluster concept. LichtBlick’s ‘SchwarmDirigent’ services have already been available to its customers such as energy providers, direct marketers, and operators for some time now. The cloud-based solution now allows customers to access their data via their web browser.
Electric Cars Are Joining the Cluster
But our ‘SchwarmDirigent’ will offer so much more in the future: It has already assumed the lead role in two large research projects subsidized by the government. In a project in Berlin, for instance, it promotes smart charging and discharging of the batteries of electric vehicles and thus makes a key contribution to ensuring the success of the energy transition.
Houses Become Power Plants
‘SchwarmDirigent’ plays a key role in the 3E apartment building project in Hamburg. This building is more than just an apartment building – it’s a small power plant that provides residents with solar power and heat from a combined heat and power unit generated on site. Excess electricity is stored in battery storage and the batteries of electric cars. ‘SchwarmDirigent’ is the “brain” of the energy building. It collects all of the information regarding weather and consumption forecasts, the state of charge of the batteries, and power exchange data. That’s how ‘SchwarmDirigent’ optimizes energy production in the building.
